I took my last final yesterday morning at 7:45 AM. Yes, I said 7:45 AM. As in before 8 AM. Why?????? I hate exams that are held that early. I'm not even fully awake until about 9. Anyway...I'm glad it's over. Now I'm off until January 7.
Something struck me as funny and interesting the other day. We were at the bow club, of course. Saturday was the Kids League Banquet, which we have at the conclusion of the league. All the kids get their trophies for participating. After it was over and all the tables were being put away, the "regulars" (the kids who are there with their family all the time) took it upon themselves to play basketball on the range. The range is a pretty big space, so they had a lot of room to run around and make lots of noise. What struck me as funny was watching them run around the range like it was their home. And it is to these kids. We're there all the time, and anyone who's a regular there treats these kids like their own. Our club is a big family. I love that. Not a bad place for my kids to grow up, if you ask me. With the older kids of the club, instead of them being out doing goodness knows what on Friday night, they're up at the club. Shooting. With their parents. I'm talking 16 and 17 year olds. What could be better??
I thank God for the club. It's given me a sense of belonging. Of family. And of contentment. I know where my kids are. They've got a whole gaggle of "parents" looking out for them as well.
Anyhoo...
Here's a few photos from the past year.
One last thing...during this time of year I really think about my dad and miss him alot. There's a song that totally makes me think of him. I love this song. It's called "Last Date" by Floyd Cramer. You can hear it here.
What's the song that brings back memories for you??
Merry Christmas!

My father recently passed away and the song that always will remind me of him is Mac the Knife. He would always walk around the house "trying" to sing that song. He will be missed this Christmas.
Don't you just love it when there is a group that will always be there and help protect what all of you love. Merry Christmas
Congrats on your finals! It's such a feeling of relief when they are done and you don't have to do any more schoolwork for a certain amount of time :-)
Your club sounds like a wonderful place to belong to! And you're right, it's awsome when you find a hobby that your children can enjoy with you - not to mention your teenagers! Those kind of hobbies are pretty hard to find.
I'm glad you have such a cool adopted family at the bow club. Isn't family you choose WAY better than the one you're dealt???
My dad's still alive, just 2000 miles away. He used to sing all of the time, old Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra and Perry Como. He used to make me watch all of the rat pack movies with him. I miss him every time I watch a Chicago Bears game without him, too.
I so wish you lived closer to me.
I'm missing my dad a lot too : ( I can totally relate. Just know that he's in a better place than we are. Anything by Roger Miller or Johnny Cash almost sends me into a fit of tears, those were his favorites.
On a lighter note, congrats on your finals. I'm sure it's a relief to have it done.
